The Castrellon Lab at UCLA (PI: Jaime Castrellon) invites applications for a full-time lab manager position (Staff Research Associate I). This position is ideal for recent college graduates interested in gaining experience in psychology and neuroscience research before applying to graduate school. The lab will open its doors in the Psychology Department in July 2024. Start date is flexible after July 1, 2024. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
We study the cognitive and neural mechanisms that shape motivation and reward valuation in decisions that affect one’s own well-being and the well-being of others. To accomplish this, we combine experimental behavioral economics, computational models, theories about social perception and bias, pharmacology, neuroimaging techniques (fMRI and PET), and experience sampling of daily experiences.
The lab manager will work closely with the PI, graduate and undergraduate students, and postdocs on existing projects and will have the opportunity to make creative contributions to research, and thus, to co-author academic papers. Some of the essential duties include: (1) recruiting study participants, (2) coordinating and conducting research studies (e.g., designing and implementing behavioral, fMRI, PET, and pharmacology experiments), (3) processing and analyzing data, and (4) general lab management (e.g., lab website maintenance, interviewing and supervising research assistants, maintaining lab computers and equipment, planning lab events and research meetings).
