The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to recruit a new tenure track faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 2024. We seek an outstanding researcher who addresses cognitive development across the lifespan with a focus on data science methods. The desired candidate could study any area of cognition, including attention, memory, language, perception, intelligence, problem-solving, or decision-making.
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience has six program areas (Behavioral & Integrative Neuroscience, Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental, Quantitative, and Social Psychology), providing opportunities for exciting collaboration and innovation. A scholar working in this area could build collaborative relationships with colleagues throughout our department, as well as with UNC’s new School of Data Science and Society, the UNC School of Education, the UNC Health Care System’s new Aging Brain Clinic, the School of Public Health, the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, the School of Social Work, and the School of Medicine.
Educational Requirements
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment.
Qualification and Experience
The successful applicant will demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and extramural research support. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of, or the potential for, contributing to mentoring and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity appropriate to their level, the potential to develop (or record of) an independent research program, and a commitment to mentoring and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
