Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The COVID-19 situation represents an unprecedented global health crisis that requires special measures. It is becoming increasingly clear that the ongoing pandemic will continue to impact society at large and the possibility for scientists to meet at international meetings such as the SNE meeting scheduled for October 9 – 11, 2020 in Vancouver, Canada.

Last week, we, the SNE board, met to assess the situation, evaluate options and decide on what would make the most sense for our planned meeting. We unanimously decided not to hold the meeting as a regular conference to protect the health of our community. The meeting is the place where, every year, we meet to share science, engage in lively discussions, and network. We also understand that this is a time of tremendous uncertainty for the students and post-docs in our community whom we would like to support as much as we can.

Our mission is to

1/ foster research on the foundations of economic behavior by promoting collaboration and discussion among scholars from the psychological, economic, and neural sciences, and

2/ ensure the continued advancement of the field of neuroeconomics by supporting young researchers.

We are committed to this mission and to contributing to the progress and growth of our community. That is why we are currently exploring various options to support you, disseminate the newest scientific knowledge and support students and early-career researchers.

At this point, we do not know exactly what our efforts to this end will look like, but will let you know as soon as we have a plan. We would also like to get your input on this and send out a survey soon to better understand your needs in these difficult times. Please note that we are putting the abstract submission process on hold until we further define how to integrate submissions in the new form of our membership activities for this year.

We thank you for being part of our community.  We hope that we can rely on your participation to keep the neuroeconomics field engaging and relevant.

We wish you all well. Stay safe.
