Virtual Presentation Guidelines
Oral presentation requirements:
All speaker presentations will be scheduled into the program as simulated live talks. This means that attendees will watch each pre-recorded talk as if being broadcast live — without the stress of live streaming and the potential technical issues that arise from this.
Oral presentations are 15mn followed by a 5mn Q&A.
As an oral presenter at vSNE you will be required to upload the following information by September 15, 2020:
- Pre-recorded (max 15 minutes) video presentation
Live Chat & Q&A Sessions
Live text chat during the presentation
At the bottom of each presentation screen there is a text box, which is available for attendees to ask questions and interact with the presenter. This option entails each speaker making themselves available during their simulated ‘live’ streamed presentations to reply to questions and chat to attendees in real time, from anywhere in the world.
Live Zoom webinar Q&A Session following the presentation
After the last video of the session is broadcasted, all session presenters will be asked (where/when possible) to attend a collective live Q&A to answer any questions or add to any discussions taking place around a presentation. The Q&A period will be moderated by a chair.
Poster presentation requirements:
As a poster presenter, you will be required to upload the following information by September 22, 2020. IMPORTANT: Individual links to poster booths to upload the materials will be sent by the end of day on Friday, September 18. The revised upload deadline is Tuesday, September 22. (Updated Sept. 18)
- PDF version of your poster (landscape format).
- A short (between 3 and 5 minutes) pre-recorded video presentation. We suggest that you summarize the following:
- study’s objective and significance
- methods used
- results obtained
- conclusions and implication
You may also upload (Optional):
- PowerPoint slides used in the video
- Handouts/supplementary documents and any links to videos, or other web-based information in support of your poster
WATCH EXAMPLE VIDEO
We understand that a virtual platform reduces the opportunity to have those chance encounters and hallway chats that often take place at an in-person event. We’d therefore like to try something new for vSNE by adding gather.town as a means of facilitating face to face interaction, during the poster sessions. To find out who is online during any of the three poster sessions, simply click on a link (provided closer to vSNE), to enter the space. For instructions on how gather.town operates please download these basic instructions.
When a poster presenter is not at their poster, their poster information will be available for virtual attendees to browse and review. There will also be a ‘contact’ button, allowing individuals to connect directly with poster presenters at any time to ask questions and start follow-up discussions. Poster presenters may indicate their preferred contact method (email, twitter, etc.) directly in their poster booth.
Poster Spotlights Presentations
Poster Spotlight Presentations
All poster spotlights presentations will consist of a 3-5mn pre-recorded video. There will be no text chat during the presentation or live Q&A period after the session.
As a poster spotlight presenter at you will be required to upload the following information by September 15, 2020:
- Poster video presentation (the same that you will upload in your poster booth)
